On March 28th & 29th, auction houses across France will be opened to a wider public who will be able to discover auctions. The auctioneer’s role and how auctions are organized will be unvailed! What is sold at auctions, how it sells, who are the buyers/sellers… Several events are being prepared for this Week-end Follement Marteau (literally translating: crazy hammer week-end): themed auctions, charity auctions, estimates, exhibitions, conferences… difficult to resist the urge to come in the auction houses and discover the crazy and spectacular world of auctions! The SYMEV, Syndicat National des Maisons de Ventes Volontaires is the only French association representing auction houses in France. The Week-end Follement Marteau was created by the SYMEV and is dedicated to promoting auctioneers, their profession and their auction houses, in France as well as abroad. The visual image chosen for this communication’s campaign truly illustrates the diversity of objects that can be found at auctions: works of arts, furniture, cars, race horses, wine, comics and many more!
